COFOSS Welcomes ASKO Australia, LG Electronics Australia and Hisense to Strengthen Industry Collaboration on Sustainability

The Coalition for Sustainable Solutions (COFOSS) has announced the addition of three major appliance and consumer electronics brands ASKO, LG and Hisense as new members, further strengthening the Coalition’s growing representation across Australia’s consumer electronics and home appliance sector.

The new memberships reflect growing industry recognition that the sustainability challenges facing the sector from product and packaging stewardship and circularity to emissions reduction and evolving regulatory requirements require greater collaboration across the value chain.

ASKO, LG and Hisense each bring significant sustainability expertise and global experience to COFOSS, strengthening the Coalition’s ability to share knowledge, identify practical solutions and advocate for approaches that can deliver meaningful outcomes at scale.

COFOSS Chair Kurt Hegvold welcomed the three new members, highlighting the importance of bringing more of the industry together.

“We are delighted to welcome ASKO, LG and Hisense to COFOSS. As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, there has never been a more important time for the industry to come together. The strength of COFOSS lies in our ability to turn individual efforts into collective action and accelerate solutions that can work across the sector.” Kurt Hegvold, Chair, COFOSS and Managing Director Australia, Electrolux

The three new members highlighted the importance of collaboration in accelerating progress across the industry.

ASKO

“ASKO Australia is extremely happy to join the Coalition for Sustainable Solutions (COFOSS).

We see COFOSS as an extremely important collaboration, working on topics and challenges that can have significant impact on business. Sustainability is a core principle for our business. We are looking forward to being a contributing member in the Coalition.” Greg Calnon, Sales Director ANZ, ASKO Appliances

LG Electronics

“Life’s Good only if we look after the planet that makes it possible. At LG Electronics Australia, that belief runs through everything we make: from designing products that use less energy and materials more responsibly, to helping recover and recycle them once their working life is done.  We know no single company can close the loop alone and that’s exactly why we’re proud to be joining COFOSS. It’s a chance to sit down with people who care about this industry as much as we do, share what we’ve learnt, and make good stewardship second nature across the sector, not just for us, but for the customers and communities we all serve. This collaboration is instrumental in developing practical solutions that can accelerate the transition to a more circular and sustainable industry.” Jaeho Min, Chief Financial Officer, LG Electronics Australia

Hisense

“Sustainability is increasingly embedded in the way we innovate, manufacture and bring products to consumers. From improving energy efficiency and developing smart monitoring applications to let consumers track water and energy usage across connected home appliances, we recognise the importance of addressing environmental impacts throughout the product lifecycle. By joining COFOSS, we look forward to contributing to a collaborative industry approach and working with other members to identify practical solutions for the Australian market.” Cory Foster, GM Sales, Hisense Australia

Building momentum for collective action

The addition of ASKO, LG and Hisense further expands the collective expertise represented within COFOSS and strengthens its role as a platform for industry collaboration.

COFOSS brings together manufacturers, retailers and other industry stakeholders to address shared sustainability challenges through collaboration, policy advocacy, education, research and practical industry initiatives. The Coalition’s work is focused on turning industry challenges into scalable solutions, with priorities including product and packaging stewardship, circular economy initiatives, regulatory harmonisation, industry education and consumer awareness.

Kurt Hegvold said the continued growth of the Coalition demonstrates the appetite for a more connected approach to sustainability.

“The sustainability agenda is moving quickly, and the industry needs to move with it. Bringing more leading manufacturers and brands into the conversation gives us greater insight, capability and influence. We look forward to working with ASKO, LG and Hisense and our broader membership to turn shared challenges into practical solutions that benefit industry, consumers and the environment.”
