De’Longhi and JURA Join COFOSS as Industry Momentum Builds Following Inaugural Conference
The Coalition for Sustainable Solutions (COFOSS) has announced that De’Longhi Australia and JURA Espresso Australia have joined the organisation as new members, further strengthening industry collaboration on sustainability, circular economy and product stewardship initiatives across the consumer electronics and home appliance sector.
The announcement follows the successful inaugural COFOSS Conference, Building Momentum for Sustainable Solutions, which brought together more than 60 senior leaders from across Australia’s consumer electronics and home appliance industry, including manufacturers, retailers, policymakers and sustainability practitioners.
The addition of De’Longhi and JURA reflects growing industry recognition that sustainability challenges such as product stewardship, e-waste, packaging reform, repairability and emerging regulation are best addressed through collective action rather than individual company responses alone.
COFOSS Chair and Electrolux Managing Director Australia and New Zealand, Kurt Hegvold, welcomed both organisations to the coalition.
“We are delighted to welcome De’Longhi and JURA to COFOSS. Both organisations are respected global brands with strong reputations for quality, innovation and long product lifecycles, and their participation further strengthens the breadth of expertise within our membership.”
“The inaugural COFOSS Conference reinforced that the challenges and opportunities facing our industry require collaboration across the value chain. The addition of De’Longhi and JURA demonstrates the growing momentum behind a shared industry commitment to shaping practical sustainability outcomes and engaging constructively with the government on the future of our sector.”
James Boyden, Head of Customer Experience, Aus/NZ De’Longhi Group says the company saw significant value in joining an industry-led organisation focused on practical sustainability solutions.
“At De’Longhi, sustainability is increasingly embedded into how we think about product development, packaging, operations and long-term business performance. In recent years we have transitioned much of our packaging to more sustainable alternatives, reducing our reliance on virgin plastics and improving recyclability outcomes across our product portfolio.
We recognise the growing need for well-coordinated industry strategies and collective action. Many of the challenges facing our sector cannot be solved by individual organisations alone.”
George Liakatos, Managing Director, JURA Australia Espresso said the organisation was attracted by COFOSS’s collaborative approach and focus on practical outcomes.
“At JURA, sustainability begins with designing products built to last. Longevity, repairability and product quality have long been central to our philosophy, enabling customers to enjoy our coffee machines for many years while reducing unnecessary waste and replacement.”
“We have also invested in initiatives such as our recycling program and ongoing support for repair and servicing, recognising that extending product life is one of the most effective ways to reduce environmental impact.
As sustainability expectations, product stewardship requirements and circular economy opportunities continue to evolve, we see significant value in working alongside industry peers through COFOSS. The inaugural conference demonstrated the importance of collaboration across the sector, and we look forward to contributing our experience while helping shape practical solutions that deliver positive outcomes for consumers, industry and the environment.”
COFOSS exists to reduce the environmental impacts of consumer electronic and home appliance products in Australia. Its mission is to lead collaborative, industry-wide initiatives that accelerate product and packaging stewardship through policy advocacy, education, shared solutions and strategic partnerships.
With membership continuing to grow, COFOSS is expected to expand its work over the coming year in areas including product stewardship, repair and circularity, packaging sustainability, policy engagement and industry collaboration.
